Final Review

Please join us for our Spring 2024 studio review at University of Lincoln-Nebraska. "Reimagining the Swiss Chocolate Factory" is the second iteration of our research and design studio that examines the way images construct our built environment, and specifically, how the Swiss chocolate factory can be reinterpreted today. The students are tasked with working with historic factory buildings in Switzerland, with an emphasis on the assembly of new and existing building characteristics from found archival imagery.

On Collective Imagination and the Idea of Permanence

Organised by HEPIA (Haute École du paysage, d'ingénierie et d'architecture de Genève)

Lecture by Architecture Office

Since moving to Zurich in 2021, the Swiss-American Architecture Office has taken on cross cultural influences from the United States and Switzerland. The work of the office focuses on the role of cultural imagery in their approach to typology, materials, and assembly. One recent example, Swissness Applied, is a research project on the translation of the Swiss chalet type in New Glarus, Wisconsin - with a focus on architectural details.

As 2023/24 Hyde Chairs of Excellence, the co-founders have undertaken a new project on the image of the Swiss Chocolate factory with their students.

Final Review

Please join us for our Fall 2023 studio review at University of Lincoln-Nebraska. "Reimagining the Chocolate Factory" is a research, fabrication, and design studio that examines the way images construct our built environment, and specifically, how the Swiss chocolate factory can be reinterpreted today. In the studio we will explore methods for constructing a new idea using Midjourney (Artificial Intelligence [A.I.] imaging software) and digital fabrication tools. And students will work with an existing factory building in Switzerland, with an emphasis on how new and existing building characteristics come together to create contemporary and innovative design.
